Mr. Calder,
It appears that:-
(a) In the case of (6) the Estimated
Expenditue for 1931 as shown in the 1931
Estimates, Appendix VI.B has been revised,
and the Legislative Council resolutions con-
taining this revision require the approval
of the Secretary of State. As the resolutions
clearly state that the amounts are to be
advanced from surplus balances the S. of S.
approval will cover this point also.
I have not yet received the 1931 accounts so
I cannot yet say whether this revised estimate
covers the actual expenditure for 1931.
(b) In the case of (10), the estimated
figures as given in enclosure No.1 agree with
the figures given in the 1932 Estimates,
Appendix VII(B), and if, as I understand from
the Auditor to be the case, the Hong Kong 1932
Estimates have been sanctioned, further
approval by the S. of S. is not necessary.
